- Stephen John I hear you Inniss, while we may do that it still doesn't hold fast. I say this based on your opening statement that LOVE AND TRUTH WALK HAND IN HAND. Where do we get our concept of love from? Love and Truth always go together you can have one without the other. A lie brings darkness and secrecy which cause destruction. Truth shared in Love brings light and life. And while it may cause pain momentarily (depending on the issue at hand) one can clearly see ahead and chart a course for resolution.

Many of you have probably already heard of the international anti smelter demonstration (Trinidad and Iceland march) taking place in London on 27 October 2006. What they are doing is right up Greenlight's alley - a 'theatrical and interactive event' taking place in the streets to raise awareness. The organisers have christened the march as a 'funeral march to mark the murder of Karahnjukar, Iceland, and the impending murder of the Cedros Peninsula, Trinidad, at the bloody hands of Alcoa and heavy industry.'
They go on to say: 'Set in one of the financial capitals of todays Empire, this protest will mark the beggining of the joint struggle against the heavy industrial invasion of both Iceland and Trinidad.'

Heartical Elevation
This production was put together by the Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs and The Gathering.
The main idea and purpose for having Heartical Elevation was to do something positive for the youths in the Laventille Community, with a view to keeping God in everything. A lot of people have the misconception that most of crimes taking place in the country to date, are committed by most Laventille residents. This is in fact just a myth. Black, unemployed youths are being targeted and used as scapegoats, to shield the real culprits behind the drug and gun smuggling. It does not take a Degree in Rocket Science to know that Laventille youths do not have enough food for their offsprings, let alone ship drugs intoTrinidad and Tobago. Donâ€™t misunderstand me. Drugs and violence is everywhere including Laventille. As in everything else, we always highlight the negative. Surely I hope this would change some day.
Heartical Elevation was a success with a huge turn out. This event was held at the Laventille Technology and Continuing Education Centre on the 4/11/05 at 7 p.m. Hosted by The Gatheringâ€™s Ras Iton, it was a night of conscious arts and entertainment featuring performances from local drama and modern dance groups. There was also poetry by Muhammad and Minis3â€™s Gamma, acoustic sounds from Linton, Malik and Mr.King with the big song â€œLaventilleâ€�. Gitta Dan accompanied by his live band was also present.
With the overwhelming response from the people in the Laventille Community towards this event, be on the look out for Heartical Elevation II.

Malik's Profile

Malik was born Larry Malik Inniss on 24th August 1983 in Belmont, Port of Spain.

He chose the sobriquet Malik� which literally means Master� Malik is the master of
his own destiny, someone who is not easily detracted and who goes after his goals
with hard work, perseverance and determination.

Writing poetry and chanting lyrics to his classmates, he developed a knack
for composing songs by the age of 15. Malik� was exposed to what is termed as conscious reggaeâ€™
However, he felt a missing element to his own creativity, although he
continued to write, keeping his pulse in tune to his surroundings and the
society at large.

At 17 he found the infectious drive of Hip Hop music
to be invigorating and found divine inspiration from Rappers
such as Nas and the late Tupac Shakur.

Absorbing himself in the art-form, he recalls there
were times I would lock myself in my room to practice my
skills as a story teller and poet enough for listeners to take
a journey through my thoughts.�

In 2003 Malik� performed in the â€œTelethon for the
Artsâ€� which was broadcasted live. He is also involved in the Circle of Poets and
in 2004 was involved in a number of productions: The Poetry Tour in Tobago
called â€œThe Fifth Encounterâ€�, UNAIDS Youth Fest, Best Village â€” Village Chat
and Poetry, Les Mots De Mon Coeur (The Words of My Heart) - a Circle of Poets Production and also many Open Mic Sessions.

In 2005 released his first music video, directed Elspeth Duncan of Happy Hippy Productions and Music and Production by
Navid Lancaster Sure Sounds recording for the track called â€œStreet Lifeâ€�. Street Life was different to the typical rap video with ladies in short skirts shaking their behinds, fast cars and bling bling it goes deeper. Malik address many aspects of the day to day struggle that we as a people face such as: Crime, domestic violence, suicide, poverty and having fuel and determination to overcome this hardship with a strong belief in GOD.
In the end being victorious is the true meaning of â Street Life�.

Also in that year he performed in the event â Fight against crime� which was sponsored by Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs held in ST.Barbs basketball court. Other feature performers were Jadee and Sherwin Gardener.
Followed by another Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs
Production in Red Hill Laventille along with the trio called Ministry, Linton, Isaac Blackman, Zion Child, Ras Iton, Gitta Dan, Mr King and Maximus Dan

2005 was just the start of big things to come for Malik
